Officially switching-off analogue television transmissions in eight provinces: Market of DVB-T2 receiver was gradually warming

In the morning of 30/12/2016, according to the DVB-T2 forum, eight provinces including Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, Vinh Long, Hau Giang, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc have officially switched-off local TV transmissions on analog systems since 00:00. Currently, the analog channels of these provinces only have been displayed the signboards of broadcast stopping and guided viewers switch to digital TV. Particularly, Hung Yen switched-off the analog transmission from 22:00 of 29/12/2016, while the other provinces switched-off after 00:00 30/12/2016.

According to the Office of the Steering Committee for the Scheme for Digitization of Terrestrial Television Broadcasting, 8 provinces have officially switched-off analog TV transmissions, the situation was normal, because the majority of people have switched off to digital TV, while there has been a very small number of analog TV viewing.

To the morning of 30/12/2016, only a few people in the Southern region reflected the unsteady phenomenon of SDTV digital TV, the image was not sharp. On the first day of switching-off analog TV - 30/12/2016, there was conflicting phenomenon of SDTV's signals in the area of Can Tho. Also on this day, in Hau Giang, SDTV has installed additional transmitter in Hau Giang station on the 34 channel to improve the quality of its coverage. While in the Northern, VTC has broadcasted DVB-T2 trial on Thien Van Hill, Kien An, Hai Phong and on the 39 channel at 618MHz.

In the morning of 30/12/2016, only few hours after switching-off analogue TV transmission, the market of DVB-T2 receivers began warming than the previous day.

Mr. Huynh Phu, Deputy Director of Vu Hong Minh Co., Ltd said, the selling speed of TV receivers was very slow in the days before. But prompting in the morning of 30/12/2016, sales have been pretty good signal, agents have been purchased over 4.000 receivers. The main of  receivers were sold to the market of Vinh Long, Hau Giang, Can Tho, Dong Thap ... Mr. Phu predicted that this evening when the people of the Southern region were no longer see Vinh Long Television channel anymore, they would rush go to buy the receivers. Starting tomorrow - 31/12/2016, DVB-T2 receivers would be certainly best-sold. Picking the day of analog TV switch-off, from 2 weeks ago, the Vu Hong Minh Co., Ltd has reduced the retail price of VND 400,000/set of TOPT2 receiver. On the market, the agents retailed only VND 350,000/set of TOPT2 receiver – lower than the sticker price. This was a very pleasant price for people with medium or low incomes, besides that Vu Hong Minh Co., Ltd also had the program of buying receiver - receiving free antenna at the moment.

Mr. Phu also said, in the Southwest market, the selling speed of FTV receiver set of MobiTV was quite slow. For Today TV channel – the strength of FTV, only the Northern people like this channel, while this was not popular with people in the Southern region, so the FTV receivers likely attract only to people in the North.

During this switch-off period, the TV receiver distributors Tan Nguyen An and Hoang Minh An have launched promotion programs, giving gifts and FTV broadcasts some foreign movie channels for free to customers.

Mr. Do Binh Cuong, Director of Viet Hoang Business and Technology Co.,Ltd (Hiep Hoa, Bac Giang) said, compared to a few days ago, the market of TV receiver distribution today has shown signs of warming. From yesterday until now, Viet Hoang Co., Ltd has sold 1,300 TV receivers of all kinds, while 3 days ago this company sold only the range 200-300 sets/day. Viet Hoang Co., Ltd is currently the mainstreams distributor of TV receivers of LTP Vietnam's, VNPT, HDG and Yoilo.

Representatives of TV receiver distributor – The he moi also said that business staff of this company was ready at 8 provinces. Most business enterprises of TV receiver gave prediction that the set-top-box market would be warm starting from tomorrow (31.12.2016) and they have planned to begin shipping in the market.

According to preliminary statistic data of the Office of the Steering Committee for the Scheme for the TV Digitization on the number of DVB-T2 receivers and DVB-T2 TV which have been sold out in these 8 provinces, Ha Nam and Vinh Phuc had lowest output. Therefore, the forecast for the next few days of hotspots of market on DVB-T2 receivers would be Ha Nam and Vinh Phuc.
